This forged carbon steel blind-flange enquiry is presented for natural gas with API 5L and ASME B16.5 references. Those references need allocation to the ordered component and its mating system. Select the actual closure configuration and material before treating them as a complete supply specification.
Allocate API 5L and B16.5 requirements explicitly
Identify the exact documents, editions and intended scope for the flange, material and adjoining system. The title does not establish a grade, pressure class or certification. Confirm B16.5 applicability for the selected component and size, with the dimensional and conformity records required by the project.
Material choices include Alloy Steel, Aluminum, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel. For the ordered carbon steel item, obtain the complete designation, condition, heat traceability and certificates. Verify actual forging and subsequent manufacturing records rather than applying one route or material package to every alternative.
Complete the blank and bolted-joint drawing
Choose the blind type and individual nominal size within the 1/2–120-inch range label. Obtain blank geometry, thickness, outside dimensions, facing and gasket seating with tolerances. Confirm mating flange, gasket and bolting; other constructions among the nine type options need separate functional drawings.
The table lists four holes of 1/2-inch diameter. Locate these requirements on the selected drawing with bolt circle and alignment checks. They do not define all size/type combinations. Agree polished areas, measurable finish acceptance and protection for handling, storage and installation.
Define the actual natural-gas acceptance basis
Provide gas composition, contaminants, pressure, temperature, cycling, corrosion and mechanical loads. Obtain acceptance of the selected material, closure and joint under those conditions, including project leakage criteria where required. No numerical rating or sour-service approval is supplied. Agree access, assembly, inspection, testing, marking and material, manufacturing, dimensional and finish reports.
