A forged carbon steel branch outlet enquiry must describe the run pipe and the branch as a connected arrangement. For a weldolet request, start with the attachment to the run and the welding connection required at the branch outlet.
Define the run contour with the pipe wall
Provide the run-pipe outside diameter and wall thickness, together with the location and geometry of the branch opening. Confirm the outlet contour and attachment dimensions for that run size. One branch-size selection cannot define the run interface by itself, so include the two pipe references on the same outlet drawing rather than assuming that a single size label describes the complete fitting.
Specify the branch weld and exact outlet form
Identify the branch size, wall requirement and weld-end preparation needed for the assembly. Confirm that the supplied outlet is the intended weldolet form and that the branch connection agrees with the project drawing. Other outlet-family names describe different connection arrangements; the required welded form should therefore remain explicit throughout the request, including any dimensions needed to review access around the branch connection.
Review A105 and class requirements for that outlet
State any ASTM A105 material requirement and applicable MSS SP 97 edition for confirmation on the selected carbon steel fitting. Define the wall designation and pressure-class requirement alongside the medium and design conditions. A class label does not provide a direct working-pressure value, and a general wall range does not establish the dimensions of the proposed outlet. Request the relevant material and technical documentation for the exact run/branch combination so the forged outlet can be assessed as one specified connection.
