This ASME B16.9 pipe-elbow enquiry contains both A403 and Carbon Steel references that require reconciliation before material acceptance. Elbow variants and the two reviewed curved-fitting photographs support the family. Select an actual material specification and grade, then qualify the required dimensions and complete welded assembly.

Resolve the material specification before selecting a grade

Choose Stainless Steel, Alloy or Carbon Steel explicitly and request the complete material specification, edition and traceable grade records. Establish whether A403 applies to that selected material rather than treating it as a generic assignment for every choice. Do not silently replace it with another carbon-steel specification. The photographs cannot establish composition or an exact grade, and generic material labels cannot replace traceability.

Define the elbow geometry under the selected requirements

Request actual angle, centreline radius, centre-to-end dimensions, tangent lengths and installation envelope. Confirm equal-end nominal sizes, outside diameters, pipe and fitting walls, and welding preparation. Explain the millimetre labels and their dimensional basis; the title supplies no angle, radius designation or schedule. Establish the applicable ASME B16.9 requirements and edition for the chosen construction, with dimensional inspection. A title reference alone does not establish conformity, while Hexagon and mounting-hole fields do not define elbow geometry.

Qualify production and the welded pipe assembly

Verify Forged through production and inspection evidence. Coordinate both ends with adjoining pipe alignment, joining procedure, weld access and inspection. Define Painting through preparation, coating specification and weld-zone condition. Supply fluid, pressure, temperature, corrosion and mechanical loads for complete-assembly assessment; Pipe Class 150 alone does not establish allowable duty. Confirm offered dimensions and availability beyond Customized Size, then accept the reconciled material assignment and selected drawing with its manufacturing, standard, coating and welded-joint records.
