This pipe reducer page supports an eccentric configuration enquiry with ASME B16.9 and A234 WPB requirements. Define the required offset and installation orientation before selecting the fitting. The appropriate reducer depends on the relationship between both pipe centerlines, the actual end dimensions and the material and connection specification.
Show the eccentric offset on the installation drawing
Identify the large and small pipe centerlines and show the required offset orientation in the layout. Provide the reducer length and any dimensional limits imposed by nearby pipework or equipment. A photograph of a reducer cannot establish that it has the required eccentric geometry. Use a configuration-specific drawing to confirm the actual offset rather than selecting a subtype from appearance alone.
Describe the large and small connections separately
Give the nominal size, actual outside diameter and wall thickness at each end. Identify the connection form and any required weld preparation, including the mating pipe walls. Clarify what the selected size option represents and how it relates to the full two-end dimensional pair. These details need to match the intended transition and orientation on the installation drawing.
State the material and standard requirements precisely
Provide the applicable ASME B16.9 edition and the exact A234 WPB requirement for a Carbon Steel configuration. A Stainless Steel choice requires its own grade and material specification. Request construction and dimensional confirmation for the same reducer whose offset is being reviewed. Include the service medium, design pressure and temperature when assessing suitability. Generic shape, flexibility or resistance labels do not establish service qualification. Final selection should follow review of the offset drawing, both end details and selected-part material and pressure-temperature evidence.
