This ASME B16.5 RF flange enquiry requires confirmation of whether the joint needs a blind closure or a weld-neck pipe connection. Define the intended form before evaluating class 300 and the material requirements. A closed flange and a flange with a pipe attachment serve different joint arrangements and need different drawing details.

Choose closure or pipe connection first

For a blind-flange request, identify the required closed-face form and obtain its thickness and facing dimensions. For a weld-neck request, specify the neck, bore and pipe-end preparation. Confirm the actual selected form on a drawing rather than treating blind and WN names as interchangeable. A gallery containing both open and closed circular components does not assign either form to the configuration being considered.

Define the RF joint under B16.5

State the required ASME B16.5 edition and class designation, then request the complete facing, outside diameter, thickness and bolt-pattern dimensions for the chosen form. Compare the drawing with the mating flange, intended gasket and fasteners. If the connection uses a neck, include the adjoining pipe specification as well. The flange form and the bolted interface must describe the same selected component.

Confirm grade, construction and class scope

Specify one exact Stainless Steel or Carbon Steel material requirement and the required construction. Request the selected flange's material and pressure-temperature documentation before accepting the class 300 service scope. Include the medium, pressure and temperature for the proposed joint. A class label alone does not establish the operating envelope for an unspecified material or form. Complete the enquiry by checking the selected drawing, grade, construction and rating together, so the closure or pipe connection can be assessed against the actual project requirements.
