This flange enquiry concerns a carbon-steel blind closure with raised-face and Class 300 requirements under the ASME B16.5 reference. Confirm the actual blank model before assessing dimensions or duty. The generic flange options and product images do not establish that every listed item has the closure construction required by this enquiry.
Confirm the blind raised-face model
Identify the opening to be closed and request a drawing showing the blank centre, flange thickness and sealing face. Check the full bolt pattern, hole dimensions and bolt circle against the mating flange. Explain what the millimetre size option measures and confirm the individual nominal size. An open-centre product image cannot demonstrate a blank closure, so acceptance needs a drawing and item identification for the proposed model.
Specify Class 300 and the material grade
State the B16.5 edition and Class 300 requirement, then request dimensional conformity and material-dependent rating evidence for that configuration. Choose the carbon-steel variant and specify its exact material grade and governing specification; the family label does not provide a grade designation. Stainless-steel alternatives need a separate material assessment. If forged manufacture is required, obtain traceable production and inspection records rather than relying on the process label or surface appearance.
Assess the complete closure joint
Provide the fluid, operating pressure and temperature alongside sealing, assembly and inspection requirements. Confirm how the blind flange is installed in the mating joint; a general Welding field cannot define the installation of a blank closure. Review the accepted dimensions, material and joint rating together before accepting service. A class number or smooth face alone does not establish operating suitability. An effective enquiry links one identified closure model to its mating flange, traceable material records and actual duty conditions.
