This socket-weld flange enquiry combines class 150 RF and ASME B16.5 requirements with a carbon steel material request. Confirm the selected flange's socket, facing and bolted interface before evaluating it for the piping connection. The enquiry should define the pipe attachment as clearly as the mating flange arrangement.

Describe the socket and adjoining pipe

Provide the pipe outside diameter and wall thickness, then request the socket bore and depth for the required flange. Identify the intended attachment arrangement and the details needed by the joining procedure. Check these features on a drawing for the selected component. An open bore in a general flange image does not establish the required socket geometry or the dimensions needed to connect a particular pipe.

Verify the raised face and class designation

State the required ASME B16.5 edition and class 150 designation. Obtain the RF facing dimensions, flange thickness, outside diameter and complete bolt pattern on the same drawing. Compare the flange with the mating part, gasket and fasteners. Keep the pressure designation within the applicable standard rather than assuming that a similarly shaped flange or a different standard marking establishes the same joint specification.

Confirm the selected material and operating scope

Specify the exact Carbon Steel requirement and ask for confirmation of the A105 designation where it is required. A Stainless Steel option needs its own material specification and review. Request the actual construction and pressure-temperature documentation for the selected size and material. Include the medium and design conditions with the enquiry so the joint can be assessed as a complete configuration. Before acceptance, confirm the socket connection, raised face, bolting and material scope together against the project drawing.
