A carbon steel reducing tee enquiry should make the size change clear across the complete fitting. Identify both run ends and the branch before confirming the requested WPB material and B16.9 requirements for the selected tee configuration.

Locate the reduction within the three-ended tee

Give the nominal size and actual dimensions of each connection, stating where the reduction occurs. Confirm whether the project needs a reducing or equal arrangement on a tee drawing. Include the center-to-end dimensions and the required position of the branch within the pipe layout. One size selector cannot establish a complete reducing configuration, so the drawing should make the relationship among all three pipe interfaces explicit.

Assign a connection specification to each pipe interface

State the wall thickness and required end preparation for every intended butt-weld connection. Any thread or male/female requirement should be assigned to the appropriate end and confirmed separately. Review the actual pipe dimensions with those connection details so the tee request describes an installable arrangement. A general welding or thread label cannot replace the end specification needed at each run and branch connection.

Keep the WPB requirement with the carbon steel choice

Request confirmation of ASTM A234 WPB and the applicable B16.9 edition for the carbon steel tee being considered. Stainless Steel and Alloy are other material-family choices and need their own grade specifications. Include the medium and design conditions when requesting rating and material documentation for the chosen configuration. Broad pressure, resistance or certificate labels do not qualify the complete fitting, so final selection should connect the reduction drawing, end details and confirmed material to the same service requirements.
