This carbon-steel pipe bend enquiry uses ASTM A234 WPB as the material requirement and welding as the proposed connection. The curved-pipe photographs and elbow variant identify the fitting family. Selecting an actual bend still requires one agreed size, a dimensioned route drawing and traceable material and production records.
Draw the bend and its straight tangents
State the required nominal size, outside diameter and wall thickness, then identify the actual size being offered. A range-labelled option does not confirm availability of every size within it. Give bend angle, centreline radius, tangent lengths and the overall installation envelope. Confirm whether the two ends have equal dimensions and show the weld preparation at each end. Photographed curvature cannot establish a numerical angle or radius ratio, while the mounting-hole field does not define the pipe interface. Check the drawing against the adjoining straight pipes and joining access.
Verify the specified material and forming records
Request material documentation identifying the exact specification and grade of the selected bend. Do not assume that differently written material labels are equivalent. Keep the dimensional and inspection requirements explicit rather than treating the ASTM A234 WPB reference as a complete geometry specification. Ask what the push process description means for this model and obtain its forming and wall-inspection records. Define coating type, surface preparation, coverage and weld-area condition; Painting or Painted alone does not describe a complete protective system.
Document operating and inspection acceptance
Provide the fluid, pressure, temperature, corrosion conditions and mating-pipe material for assessment of the welded installation. Pipe Class 150 and a lifespan label do not establish allowable duty or a fixed service life. Agree product-specific joining and inspection acceptance. Check any relevant certificate's issuer, scope and validity separately from the bend's material and dimensional evidence.
