A reinforced synthetic-fiber flat-ring gasket enquiry should identify the sealing construction and the flange joint it must fit. Define the required material, reinforcement and dimensions for the selected item. Include the applicable ASME B16.21 and Class 150 requirements with their exact scope, then obtain the records needed to assess that gasket against the intended joint conditions.
Identify the Ring Construction and Materials
Request a construction specification that distinguishes the sealing material from any reinforcement or other components. If reinforced synthetic fiber is required, have its composition and construction identified for the proposed gasket. Material appearance alone does not establish that specification. Keep the selected construction and material records linked to the same item so that the intended sealing arrangement can be reviewed consistently.
Define Flange Size and Gasket Thickness
State the nominal flange size, facing and required designation. Identify the exact ASME B16.21 edition and applicable dimensional scope for the enquiry. Obtain the ring inside and outside diameters and specify the required gasket thickness independently. A mounting-hole measurement does not define gasket thickness. Compare the selected ring dimensions with the mating flange and joint specification before deciding on the configuration.
Qualify the Gasket for the Actual Joint
Name the medium and describe its pressure and service-temperature conditions. Request material compatibility and sealing qualification for the selected gasket construction and flange arrangement. Confirm the relevant installation requirements as part of the joint review. A Class designation alone does not establish the operating pressure capability of a complete gasketed joint. Complete the enquiry with the construction, reinforcement details, dimensions, thickness and standard scope. Those records provide the basis for evaluating the proposed sealing item against the application before final selection.
