Thread TypesNPT
This cast carbon steel NPT coupling carries Class 3000 and half/full configuration references. The title specifies 3 inch, whereas the single variant is 10 mm. Resolve the selected dimensions and configuration before specifying the coupling or relying on the standard and class labels.
Set the half or full configuration on the drawing
Choose the required half-coupling or full-coupling layout and confirm its availability. Show connection count, nominal end sizes, wall thickness and tolerances. Clarify the Reducing table entry through actual end dimensions rather than treating the general coupling label as a complete geometry.
Establish the relationship between the 3-inch title and 10 mm variant; no equivalence is demonstrated. Assign the 4 in length and 0.26 in hole to real features and define the dimensional system. Confirm installation space, exact size availability and thread geometry for the ordered component.
Verify casting, material and the Class 3000 basis
Specify the full carbon steel designation, condition and governing material document, supported by traceability, casting and inspection records. Identify the selected B16.11 document and edition and the conformity requirements relevant to the order. Casting wording does not, by itself, demonstrate those requirements.
Agree the Class 3000 rating basis for the actual material and temperature. The matching title and table labels do not establish a numerical operating pressure. Define the complete NPT designation, engagement, mating components, sealing and examination, together with measurable Smooth finish criteria and delivery protection.
Confirm exposure and burial requirements for the coupling
Provide actual medium, numerical duty, temperature, cycling, corrosion exposure and loads. Clarify which feature claims apply; underground use requires relevant soil and installation evidence. Obtain selected flexibility, chemical or UV records where needed and document material/joint acceptance with the resolved drawing, casting, rating, threads and testing requirements.
