Choose the tee configuration first
An elbow, cap, coupling, cross, flange or nipple is a different component from a tee. For a branch connection request, identify TEE explicitly and provide a drawing of the required arrangement. Confirm whether the branch is equal or reduced, then give the size at each run end and at the branch. A single size label does not describe the complete three-ended geometry.
Name one governing standard and wall requirement
State the exact standard number and edition required by the project. ASME, ANSI, DIN and JIS names should not be treated as interchangeable dimensional specifications. Select the required wall designation, whether a standard wall description or a particular schedule, and confirm its meaning under that specification. Provide the nominal size, actual outside diameter and wall at each end rather than assuming the ten-inch requirement is represented by every selectable dimension.
Complete the material and connection specification
Choose Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel or Alloy, then state the precise grade and material specification. Identify the connection form, mating pipe wall and any weld preparation for each end. Include design pressure, temperature and the service medium so that the selected tee can be assessed as a complete configuration. Ask for material, dimensional and construction confirmation before accepting standard compliance or a service rating. These details make the enquiry specific to the tee needed for the piping layout.
