A carbon steel forged flange enquiry should define the joint arrangement before choosing a size or material grade. For a blind or slip-on requirement, identify the intended flange function and provide the dimensions that must match the adjoining components.
Distinguish a closure from a pipe connection
A blind-flange request concerns the closure of a flanged opening, while a slip-on request needs a bore and pipe attachment arrangement. Confirm the exact flange form on a drawing so the enquiry does not treat those functions as interchangeable. Show the required facing, overall dimensions and bolt pattern for that form, and identify the opposing flange or equipment connection that the part must match.
Name the carbon steel grade for the duty
Carbon steel is a material family, so the required specification and grade should be stated explicitly for the forged flange. Where the project includes low-temperature duty, provide that requirement together with the design temperature and applicable qualification criteria. Obtain confirmation for the selected grade and flange configuration rather than assuming that a general carbon steel description establishes the necessary service capability.
Keep the dimensions on one joint drawing
Supply nominal size, dimensional units, pressure class, face type, drilling and any bore requirement as one coordinated set. Include the standard and edition required by the project, along with medium and design pressure and temperature. If an existing joint must be matched, identify which dimensions govern that match. A useful forged flange enquiry ties the chosen form and steel grade to the same reference drawing, leaving broad family ranges separate from the actual requested part.
