This four-inch stainless weld-neck flange enquiry references B16.5, Class 300 and the grades 304, 316, 321 and 347. Actual Flange variants have broad material and millimetre size choices without subtype or exact-grade assignments. Confirm the selected form and nominal size before treating the title as a complete supplied specification.
Identify the neck and bore on the selected section drawing
The reviewed photos include hubbed and closed-centre examples, without mapping a weld-neck form to every variant. Request written variant identification and a section drawing showing the neck profile, bore, wall match and pipe-end preparation. If a closure is actually selected, obtain its separate joint requirements rather than assuming a weld-neck pipe connection. The body Elbow label does not establish an elbow option.
Confirm the four-inch offering and B16.5 dimensions
Ask how the four-inch nominal request relates to the millimetre menu; neither label alone gives the actual bore or supplied range. Establish the applicable B16.5 edition and dimensional inspection evidence. Record outside diameter, thickness, neck dimensions, bore and wall, bolt circle, hole details and exact facing. Check these with the mating pipe, flange, gasket and bolting. Equal, Hexagon, mounting-hole and Customized Size fields do not complete that interface.
Select one grade before assessing Class 300 duty
Choose one exact stainless material with complete specifications and traceability. The four title grades are not automatically interchangeable or jointly qualified; Alloy and Carbon Steel alternatives require separate specifications. Verify Forged and the required face finish beyond Smooth. Class 300 needs its standard, unit and selected material/temperature basis rather than a fixed pressure assumption. Define actual welding preparation and inspection, then assess fluid, pressure, temperature, corrosion and mechanical loads across the pipe attachment and entire bolted joint.
