A stainless-steel pipe cap closes a pipe end through a fitting profile matched to the connection. This enquiry includes the 304, 304L, 316 and 316L grade references in the title and a broad size and wall range in the table. Select one grade, nominal size and wall requirement so the cap can be assessed against the actual pipe end.

Match the cap profile to the pipe

Provide the mating pipe outside diameter and wall dimensions, then request a drawing showing the cap connection diameter, overall depth, profile and weld preparation. Choose the individual size needed within the stated range. Confirm the size-specific thickness for the required schedule or XXS designation; the broad range does not establish every possible size and wall combination. These dimensions also define how the closed end fits the available installation space.

Choose the grade and construction evidence

State the exact stainless-steel grade, governing material specification and edition. Request material records traceable to the selected cap rather than treating several grade names as interchangeable. If seamless construction is required, ask for production and inspection records covering that item. A sample photograph or visible marking may help identify an enquiry reference, but it cannot establish the supplied grade, manufacturing route or conformity across the entire range.

Define the closure acceptance requirements

Clarify the applicable dimensional standard behind the general ANSI label and agree the selected cap dimensions and inspection criteria. Provide fluid, operating pressure and temperature alongside joining and examination requirements for the welded connection. Assess the cap wall, material and assembled joint against those conditions. Neither a standalone class entry nor a generic mounting-hole field qualifies the pipe-end closure. An assessable enquiry links the accepted cap drawing, grade and manufacturing records to the specific pipe and intended duty.
