Thread TypesNPT
This NPT pipe nipple enquiry concerns carbon steel A106, seamless construction and a hot-dip galvanized finish requirement. Confirm the actual end threads, dimensions and material scope for the selected connector. The enquiry should define both connections and the space between them, then tie the requested construction and coating to that same configuration.
Specify each thread end and the nipple length
Identify the thread designation and size at both ends, including whether the requirement is for equal or reducing connections. Request the overall length, threaded lengths and wall dimension on a selected-part drawing. Check the available engagement against the mating connection requirements. Different pipe-like and hex-center forms may appear in general nipple images, so the actual body form and thread arrangement need dimensional confirmation.
Confirm the A106 and construction requirements
Name the exact material specification required for the Carbon Steel configuration and ask for confirmation of the A106 scope. Define the seamless or other construction requirement and obtain the corresponding documentation for the selected part. A Stainless Steel choice needs a separate material specification. Surface appearance and general process words do not establish a material grade or how the actual nipple was manufactured.
Define the coating and intended service together
State the required hot-dip galvanized treatment and ask for its applicable coating specification and coverage. Do not use colour as proof of treatment or assume that the finish establishes chemical or environmental suitability. Include the intended medium, design pressure and temperature with the thread and joining requirements. Before accepting the connector, confirm the end pair, length, wall and material alongside the construction and coating scope. Review those details as one selected nipple so both the mating fit and service assessment use the same dimensional configuration.
