A blind-flange enquiry starts with the opening that needs to be closed and the interface that must seal it. This title identifies a B16.5 reference, RF facing and blind-flange intent, while the selected material and pressure designation need clarification. Establish those details for one model before comparing it with the mating flange or assessing the closure under operating conditions.
Identify the blank closure model
Request a drawing showing the blank centre, flange thickness, sealing face and complete bolt pattern. Confirm that the item offered performs the closure function; a flange with a pipe-through opening needs a different assessment. Give the mating flange dimensions and explain what the millimetre size option measures. Nominal size, bolt circle, hole dimensions and facing must describe the same connection, rather than being assembled from unrelated labels or photographs.
Resolve the material and class requirements
Specify the exact material standard, grade and required material condition for the selected variant. The combined A105n and stainless-steel wording does not establish one supplied grade, and carbon-steel alternatives require their own assessment. Clarify the complete governing standard and edition behind the B16.5 reference. State the required pressure designation and obtain model-linked evidence, since the title and table carry different class labels without a clear mapping.
Assess the bolted closure joint
Provide the actual fluid, operating pressure and temperature, together with sealing, assembly and inspection requirements. Ask for traceable material and manufacturing records and the dimensional and rating evidence needed for the selected configuration. A forged label or smooth finish alone does not qualify the production route or service. Match the accepted drawing and material records to the complete joint so the enquiry defines both the closure interface and its intended duty.
