This pipe nipple is listed for oil and gas enquiries with barrel, swage, socket-weld and NPT wording. Its title says Carbon Steel, while the sole 20NB variant says Stainless Steel. Confirm the material and exact construction before selecting it for a piping system.
Reconcile the material and identify a complete standard
Obtain the actual grade, condition and production route with material records and traceability. The carbon title and stainless option do not identify one approved supply material. Keep the existing variant record while requesting written confirmation of the designation that will be supplied.
The title mentions ASTM without a document number. Request the complete governing specification, edition and conformity scope for this component rather than assuming a standard from a neighbouring product. Define the Polished and Smooth finish entries through measurable surface acceptance and delivery protection.
Clarify the barrel or swage profile and both connections
Provide a drawing identifying the intended profile, both end diameters, axis relationship, wall, transition and tolerances. Explain how barrel and swage wording describes the ordered nipple and whether the 90-degree table code applies. Neither Round nor 20NB supplies the full geometry.
Locate the 2 in length and 0.25 in hole on the drawing and confirm the nominal sizing convention. Allocate Socket Weld and NPT by end, including preparation, full thread details where applicable, matching components, sealing and examination. Do not assume every connection term describes both ends.
Establish acceptance for the actual oil or gas medium
Record medium composition, pressure and temperature limits, cycling, corrosion exposure and mechanical loads. Obtain the selected material rating basis for Class 3000 without using the class as operating pressure. Verify relevant chemical, UV, flexibility or buried-use claims through applicable evidence. Resolve these details in the drawing, material and inspection package before project approval.
