This pipe elbow enquiry addresses a 180-degree butt-weld return requirement between pipe legs. Define the return geometry, material and required construction before evaluating the configuration. A return drawing should describe both ends and their relationship to the installation, rather than relying on a nominal size or a general image of curved fittings.

Draw the return and both pipe legs

Show the incoming and returning pipe centerlines, their spacing and the required direction of the bend. Identify the centerline radius, overall envelope and the dimensions of both ends. Confirm the actual return angle on the selected drawing. These details let the enquiry address the installation clearance and pipe alignment without assuming that every elbow shown in a gallery has the required return shape.

Confirm construction and butt-weld preparation

State whether the project requires one return component or an approved assembly, then obtain confirmation of the actual proposed construction. Specify the butt-weld preparation, end diameters and walls for both connections. Request the governing dimensional standard and material specification for that configuration. Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Alloy choices need separate exact material definitions; appearance cannot establish the composition or construction of the selected part.

Assess the return as one selected configuration

Include the medium, design pressure and temperature with the pipe layout and joining requirements. Request the documentation needed to evaluate the selected material, wall and return construction together. A qualitative pressure label does not define an operating envelope, and a size selector does not establish the spacing between the legs. Before accepting the return, confirm the complete drawing and service scope against the project requirements. Record any change to radius, end preparation or construction on that same drawing so its effect on the installation can be reviewed.
