The ASTM A234 WPB 22.5-degree SCH 40 LR carbon steel elbow enquiry starts with the intended change in pipe direction. Establish the selected angle, radius and wall drawing before deciding whether the supplied connection matches the construction joint.
Match the requested direction change
The actual variant is Elbow with Carbon Steel and a 1/2" - 12" range. Select the exact nominal size and required angle explicitly. The range is not an inventory of discrete sizes, and LR or SCH 40 naming does not provide measured dimensions for each selection.
Request centerline radius, center-to-end dimensions, end outside diameters, bores, wall thickness and tolerances. Repeated overall length, height and mounting-hole ranges cannot describe the complete bend. Confirm the selected drawing against both mating pipes and the available routing space.
Resolve the delivered connection before fit-up
NPT Thread naming requires actual thread acceptance evidence. Obtain the supplied-end drawing and agree the joining method, including thread details or welding preparation as applicable. Generic Hexagon wording does not establish a finished end profile.
The two viewed references show curved fittings with plain or beveled ends, without readable thread certification. Their apparent bend angles cannot certify the named 22.5-degree selection. Use the accepted delivery drawing and inspection results to establish angle, schedule and connection.
Accept the material and construction duty
For the carbon option and A234 WPB wording, agree the applicable specification, grade, product form and delivery condition, supported by traceable material records. Forged naming needs evidence of actual manufacture. Smooth or corrosion-resistant descriptions do not define coating chemistry or suitability for every medium.
Low Pressure and Not Rated do not specify numerical operating limits. State the medium composition, pressure and temperature range, cycling, flow and external loads. Complete acceptance requires selected bend and end dimensions, material/manufacturing documentation, inspection criteria and the operating basis for the assembled pipe joint.
