A two-inch concentric reducer enquiry should identify which end carries the named pipe size. Define the other end and the required centerline relationship before confirming a material, wall or construction requirement for the proposed transition.

Complete the size pair behind the two-inch request

State the nominal designation and actual dimensions of the large and small ends, with units included. Identify whether the two-inch requirement applies to the larger or smaller pipe interface. A single size label does not describe the full transition, so the two ends should appear together on the reducer drawing. Confirm the required concentric alignment and the transition length for that same dimensional pair.

Specify the butt-weld geometry at both ends

Provide the wall thickness and end preparation needed at each mating pipe. Confirm the actual connection form rather than treating a female or thread descriptor as equivalent to butt-weld preparation. The reducer profile should be reviewed with the two pipe interfaces and available layout space. Reference images of different transition profiles can help communicate the family, but cannot establish the alignment or dimensions of the requested part.

Confirm B16.9 and construction with the selected steel

Choose Stainless Steel or Carbon Steel and name the required grade explicitly. State the applicable B16.9 edition and any seamless-construction requirement for confirmation on the proposed reducer. Include the medium and design conditions when requesting material, construction and rating documentation for that configuration. The final transition enquiry should connect the complete end pair, concentric alignment, wall and material specification before dimensional fit or service suitability is accepted.
