A swage nipple enquiry should define the transition between two pipe ends, including their sizes, alignment and connection preparation. For an NPT connection and Grade B requirement under A53, those details need to be recorded for the selected item. Specify the geometry you need and request a drawing that connects the dimensional and material requirements in one fitting specification.

Define the Swage Geometry at Both Ends

State the required large and small end sizes, their wall thicknesses and the overall fitting length. Identify whether the transition must be concentric or eccentric. For an eccentric requirement, show the alignment and any relevant orientation on the drawing. A single pipe-size label does not define both ends of a swage. Compare the proposed dimensions with the two adjoining pipes so that the intended transition is clear.

Identify NPT and Welding Preparation Separately

If the required connection is NPT, specify the thread form and extent at each end and obtain the corresponding end detail. If a welding connection is required, define that end preparation instead. Describe mixed end arrangements individually where needed. Do not treat a thread description and a welding description as equivalent configurations. The selected-item drawing should identify how each end will join its mating pipe.

Confirm Material and Operating Requirements

State the exact Grade B material requirement under A53 and request traceable material documentation for the proposed nipple. Confirm the manufacturing process separately and identify the applicable standard scope. Name the process medium and record the pressure and service-temperature requirements before requesting operating qualification. Complete the enquiry with one geometry, an end-size pair, wall thicknesses, connection details and material records. This gives a defined basis for assessing the fitting against the installation and service conditions.
