An A105 forged carbon-steel elbow enquiry needs a defined angle and an exact end-connection specification. Identify the required pipe direction change and the way each end must join the adjoining pipe. If socket ends are required, have the selected configuration confirmed on its drawing before choosing the fitting. The enquiry should link geometry, material and operating requirements for one item.
Specify the Selected Elbow Angle and Size
State the required change-of-direction angle and nominal pipe size. Obtain a dimensional drawing that defines the bore, end dimensions and overall geometry of the proposed elbow. Compare those dimensions with the pipework layout and mating pipe specifications. A list of angles or general size options does not establish which angle and size combination belongs to the selected fitting.
Resolve Socket-Weld and Threaded Ends
Identify the actual connection at each end. For socket-weld requirements, obtain the socket bore and depth and define the relevant joining preparation. For a threaded requirement, identify the exact thread standard and engagement dimensions. These are different connection specifications and should be described individually. Confirm that the proposed end details match the adjoining pipes rather than selecting solely from a general socket or female label.
Document A105 Construction and Pressure Scope
State the exact A105 material requirement and request traceable material records for the selected elbow. Confirm forging through the manufacturing documentation. Identify the governing fitting standard and pressure designation, with the applicable size and temperature scope. A numerical designation alone should not be treated as an operating pressure. Name the medium and service conditions when requesting qualification. Complete the enquiry with the selected angle, dimensions, end details and material and operating records so that the proposed configuration can be assessed against the project specification.
