A threaded steel nipple enquiry should distinguish the body used for handling from the ends that make the connection. This product has Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel choices; specify whether a hexagonal center or a straight barrel is required for the intended assembly.
Define the nipple body between the threaded ends
Include the overall length and the available space between the mating fittings on the nipple drawing. If a hexagonal grip is required, give the relevant body dimensions and confirm that form for the selected part. A straight barrel is a different body requirement, so the appearance of one reference nipple should not determine the form of another material or size selection.
Name the thread at each nipple end
Give both end sizes, their units and the required thread designation. An NPT requirement should identify the relevant end arrangement and be confirmed for the nipple to be supplied. Where a reducing connection is needed, describe the two ends separately instead of treating a single nominal-size label as a complete connection pair. Review engagement and any unthreaded length with the mating fittings before accepting the dimensions.
Separate steel grade from forming and finish
Within the chosen steel family, state the material specification and grade explicitly. Requirements involving A105 or stainless grades 304 or 316 need confirmation for the same nipple configuration. Any forging or galvanizing requirement should be specified independently from the grade, with the required documentation identified in the enquiry. Provide the medium and design conditions so the proposed body, threads, material and finish can be assessed together for the actual assembly.
