This cold-rolled ERW carbon steel pipe is listed for oil applications with an A108 reference in the title. The table identifies ERW manufacture and a non-oiled supply condition. Clarify the governing specification and selected material before treating the standard wording as verified conformity for this pipe.
Establish the applicable material and product specification
Ask how the A108 reference applies to the offered product form and manufacturing route. Request the exact document, edition, grade and supply condition together with the relevant evidence. Do not substitute another pipe standard merely to complete the enquiry or assume that a title reference establishes acceptance.
Obtain traceable chemistry and property records for the selected material. Define the ERW manufacturing inspections and tests required by the agreed scope. API and ISO 9001 labels in the table need actual certificates, issuers, validity and applicable scope rather than interpretation as product approval.
Confirm the cold-rolled pipe size and inspection basis
Outside diameter is listed as 219–1066 mm. The two actual variants pair a 6–20 mm thickness range with 12 m or 6 m length. Specify one diameter, wall and length combination with the required ends, then verify that complete configuration is offered.
The ±1% tolerance needs an identified measurement and acceptance limits. Agree dimensional, straightness, ovality and weld checks appropriate to the selected specification. Confirm round section and cold-rolled surface; non-oiled condition does not establish a protective coating or corrosion performance for the intended exposure.
Define the oil service for material and joint review
Provide the oil composition, relevant fluid characteristics, pressure, temperature, cycling and loading for assessment of the proposed material, joints and rating. Agree project tests and documentation. The oil application label gives no numerical operating limit, and the broader drilling, hydraulic or EMT categories do not verify separate qualifications.
