This ASME B16.9 A234 WPB SMLS LR 90-degree elbow enquiry needs an agreed supplied material before a construction joint can be selected. Stainless steel naming is an enquiry term; obtain the actual material specification and traceable inspection documents for the delivered elbow.
Establish material before selecting the bend
The sole actual selection is Elbow / 1/2" - 12" / Carbon Steel. Retain that option when requesting clarification, and identify the intended grade, product form and delivery condition explicitly. Neither WPB wording nor a light-colored surface establishes a stainless grade.
Check material compatibility against the actual medium, concentration and operating temperature. Smooth and corrosion-resistant descriptions do not define a coating system or resistance to every process fluid. Two viewed light-colored curved fitting references provide no readable certification of the supplied material.
Specify the complete long-radius joint
LR and 90-degree naming identify requested bend characteristics, but acceptance still needs the exact size-specific drawing. State nominal size, end outside diameters, bore, wall thickness, angle, centerline radius, center-to-end dimensions and tolerances. A broad size range does not establish discrete stock.
Confirm the delivered connection and mating-pipe requirements, including the relevant welding preparation or thread details. Generic Hexagon naming and repeated length, height or mounting-hole ranges cannot substitute for a complete elbow and end drawing.
Document production and operating acceptance
Agree the B16.9 edition and dimensional scope, together with the applicable material documentation. SMLS and Forged require evidence of the actual body manufacturing route; installation welding does not establish how the body was produced. Reference photographs cannot confirm radius, schedule or manufacturing compliance.
Low Pressure and Not Rated leave numerical service conditions to be established. Provide pressure, temperature, cycling, flow and mechanical loads for the intended construction system. Review the material certificate, selected LR/end drawing, manufacturing and inspection records together before accepting the complete pipe joint.
