This API 6D cast flanged trunnion ball valve enquiry concerns an industrial assembly with elevated-temperature wording. Establish the selected trunnion design, material and seat specifications, then confirm actual conformity and duty records before accepting it for the intended line.
API reference and selected trunnion construction
Identify the applicable API 6D edition and required conformity, inspection and test records. A title reference does not certify the selected valve. Obtain a sectional drawing showing actual ball support, seat arrangement and bore; exterior handwheel photographs cannot establish trunnion construction.
Request body, ball, stem and seat materials separately with certificates and traceability. Carbon Steel ball wording does not define the body alloy. Stainless Steel and Casting require precise definitions because Casting is a process label, not a grade. Confirm the actual cast route and production inspection.
Resolve the port and complete flanged assembly
Actual size choices are 3/8 in, 1/2 in, 3/4 in and 1 in(2.54cm). Establish nominal mapping, full or reduced bore and face-to-face length. The broader 1/4in–4in range does not identify the selected port. Specify flange standard, facing, drilling and compatible gasket/bolting requirements.
PTFE needs selected seat geometry and medium compatibility assessment. BASE does not provide chemical identity. Define actual composition and required isolation or regulating duty; Control alone does not qualify throttling accuracy. Confirm manual torque, travel and access, and document any OEM changes.
Verify elevated-temperature duty with numerical records
High-temperature and durability wording provide no operating guarantee. Obtain the selected pressure-temperature envelope, flow data and acceptance tests. Low Pressure and Medium Pressure labels are insufficient; 0–150 Celsius and 0–100 L/min require selected qualification rather than simultaneous guaranteed limits. Supply normal/upset conditions and differential pressure with the API requirements, assembly/material records and complete joint specification.
