This swaged pipe nipple page supports an enquiry with MSS SP-95 and A694 F65 requirements for a reducing pipe transition. Define the large and small ends separately before choosing the configuration. Any concentric alignment or manufacturing condition required by the project needs confirmation for the same nipple whose dimensions are being reviewed.
Describe the full reducing end pair
Give the nominal size, actual outside diameter and wall thickness at the large end and the small end. State the required overall length and show the pipe centerlines on a drawing. A single selectable size does not describe both connections or establish the complete reducing pair. Confirm how the selected option relates to the dimensions needed for the piping transition.
Assign the connection form at each end
Identify whether each end needs a thread or a defined preparation for another joining method. State any thread designation explicitly, with the relevant dimensions for the mating pipe or fitting. A general female/male label cannot establish both end interfaces. Review the connection arrangement together with the length and alignment so that the selected nipple can be checked against the installation drawing.
Confirm the F65 and SP-95 requirements
Request the exact material specification and confirmation that the A694 F65 requirement applies to the selected configuration. Clarify the required manufacturing construction and applicable MSS SP-95 scope separately. Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel choices need grade-specific assessment and should not inherit an unverified common qualification. Include the service medium, design pressure and temperature, then obtain the material, construction and pressure-temperature evidence needed before accepting the nipple for service.
