This carbon steel SCH 40 elbow enquiry needs an accepted component-standard basis before construction selection. B16.5, Forged and Hexagon Head appear in the naming; confirm their intended scope against the actual elbow and delivery drawing.

Accept the applicable elbow specification

Obtain the intended document, edition and component scope explicitly. Do not substitute another standard or assume certified compliance from the title. The sole actual choice is Elbow / 1/2" - 12" / Carbon Steel, which still requires an exact selected nominal size.

SCH 40 requires the selected size/wall basis rather than one thickness across the range. Specify bend angle, centerline radius, center-to-end dimensions, end diameters, wall thickness and tolerances. Bend and Hexagon wording cannot supply these dimensions.

Verify the joining and material package

Accept the supplied joining method on the selected end drawing, then verify the required welding preparation or thread details. Obtain the carbon material specification, grade, product form, condition and traceable inspection records with evidence supporting the actual manufacturing route.

The viewed dark elbows include a marked reference with apparent WPB, SCH40 and ASME B16.9 wording. Those markings cannot certify the chosen delivery or justify replacing the named document. Repeated length, height and mounting-hole ranges do not complete the elbow drawing, and surface appearance does not prove forging.

Review construction duty and corrosion conditions

Smooth and corrosion-resistant wording requires accepted surface/coating details and compatibility with the actual medium. Low Pressure and Not Rated provide no numerical operating limit, so assess the selected material, wall and joining configuration directly.

Provide medium, pressure, temperature, cycling, corrosion allowance and mechanical loads with installation and inspection requirements. Submit the accepted component-standard scope, full end/angle/radius drawing and material/process package together before accepting fit or construction service.
