This pipe reducer page supports a six-inch by three-inch concentric configuration enquiry with ASTM A234 WPB material requirements and XXS and Schedule 160 wall designations. Label each end explicitly before choosing the fitting. The large and small pipe connections need their own dimensions, walls and preparation details for the same reducer configuration.

Assign the wall designation to each end

State which end requires XXS and which requires Schedule 160. Give the actual outside diameter and wall thickness at the large and small ends under the applicable dimensional standard. These wall designations should not be treated as interchangeable or accepted without a defined size and standard. A single size option cannot describe both reducer ends or establish the complete six-inch by three-inch request.

Confirm concentric alignment and the transition drawing

Provide a drawing showing the required centerline alignment, reducer length and both end dimensions. Identify the mating pipe walls and the connection form at each end, including any required preparation for joining. Ask how the selected size option relates to the full dimensional pair. Product appearance can identify the general reducer family, while the configuration-specific drawing should establish the actual transition geometry.

Link the WPB requirement to selected-part evidence

For a Carbon Steel configuration, request the exact ASTM A234 WPB material specification and supporting confirmation. A Stainless Steel alternative requires its own grade and cannot inherit the carbon steel requirement. Provide the service medium, design pressure and temperature when assessing the reducer. The wall labels alone do not establish pressure capacity. Review material, dimensional, construction and pressure-temperature evidence for the selected fitting before accepting the two-end transition for the piping application.
