This customized forged stainless steel blind-flange enquiry is presented for offshore oil fields, with 304/316L, B16.5 and API/JIS references. The actual selection also includes other materials and constructions. Define the specific closure and grade before assessing its dimensional, corrosion or operating requirements.

Allocate the stainless grade to the offshore requirement

Choose the exact ordered material rather than treating 304 and 316L as one certified package. Obtain the governing specification, condition, heat traceability and certificates. The generic Stainless Steel option does not allocate a grade, while Alloy Steel, Aluminum and Carbon Steel need separate material acceptance.

Provide the oil or gas composition, contaminants, pressure, temperature, cycling, marine exposure and mechanical loads. Obtain assessment of the selected material and joint under those conditions. The offshore context does not establish chloride resistance, sour-service approval or a numerical operating envelope.

Document the blind geometry and mating joint

Confirm the blind type and individual nominal size within the broad 1/2–120-inch label. Request blank geometry, thickness, outside dimensions, facing, gasket seating and tolerances. Agree the mating flange, bolting and gasket, together with custom features and their acceptance basis on the supply drawing.

The original table records four bolt holes of 1/2-inch diameter. Assign these values to the actual closure and confirm bolt circle and alignment. Alternative types among the nine choices require their own functional geometry; neither the blind title nor this drilling entry defines every combination.

Verify standards, forging and polished finish

Establish the applicable B16.5 or other document, edition, selected class and size/material scope. API/JIS wording needs exact requirements and supporting evidence. Verify forging and production records, define polished areas and measurable finish acceptance, then agree handling, installation access, inspection, testing, marking and material, dimensional and finish documentation.
