Describe the cap as a closed termination
Show the cap opening, profile and depth on a dimensioned closure drawing. Include the space available beyond the pipe end and any envelope limits that affect the requested profile. Confirm the actual dimensions for the selected cap rather than adopting a general length or shape label. The drawing should make the closed termination clear and identify the surfaces that need to match the mating pipe.
Bring the pipe wall into the butt-weld enquiry
Provide the pipe outside diameter and wall thickness with the required cap-end preparation. Confirm the weld-end arrangement and dimensions together for the proposed closure. A single pipe-size choice does not define the complete opening, wall or bevel, and the same nominal size can require additional dimensional detail. Review the cap wall and profile as part of that connection instead of assuming a general pressure label establishes suitability.
Confirm WPB and seamless requirements for carbon steel
If ASTM A234 WPB and seamless construction are required, state both explicitly and request confirmation for the carbon steel cap to be supplied. Those requirements should not be applied to the other material-family choices without a separate specification. Include the applicable fitting standard, medium and design conditions, and identify the material or inspection documents needed for the project. The final cap request should connect grade and construction to one defined pipe closure before service suitability is accepted.
