This pipe cap enquiry addresses the ASME B16.9 and SCH40 carbon-steel requirements in the listing. Selection should begin with the pipe end that needs closing. The generic size and material alternatives establish choices to discuss, while a selected drawing and supporting records must define the actual cap and its joint acceptance.
Relate the schedule to the selected pipe size
Give the pipe's nominal size, outside diameter and required wall, and clarify what the millimetre options measure. SCH40 should be linked to the selected size and applicable dimensional record; it does not describe one fixed thickness for every cap. Request cap depth, profile and end dimensions, together with the proposed weld preparation. Check that the surrounding space permits the agreed joining and inspection work. Male/Female, Equal/Reducing and the mounting-hole field do not substitute for those cap-to-pipe dimensions.
Establish the material and surface requirements
Select carbon steel for the title requirement and obtain the exact material specification and grade records. A stainless-steel variant needs a separately identified grade and specification. Ask how the ASME B16.9 reference applies to the offered model, including its edition and dimensional and inspection criteria. Production evidence is needed before the Casting label is accepted as a qualified route. The cap photographs cannot establish its material or process. Define required surface condition, coating preparation and weld-area treatment rather than relying on Painting as a complete finish specification.
Agree acceptance for the closed pipe end
Provide the mating-pipe material and actual fluid, pressure, temperature and corrosion conditions. Pipe Class 150 alone cannot establish allowable pressure-temperature duty. Link the complete cap joint's acceptance to the selected drawing and matching manufacturing and inspection evidence. A bowl-shaped photograph also does not demonstrate a certified pressure-vessel head design.
