A pipe route may call for a 45-degree or a 90-degree elbow, but the required turn must be selected explicitly. This product has Stainless Steel, Alloy and Carbon Steel choices; confirm the angle for the intended material and size rather than assuming both turns are supplied for every selection.
Choose one turn angle for the route position
Mark the required elbow angle and centerline radius on the piping layout, with the adjoining pipe directions shown. Include the end positions and any space restrictions around the turn. A reference photograph of a curved fitting does not establish its measured angle or radius. Confirm the requested geometry as one arrangement so the elbow is reviewed for the specific change of direction needed in the route.
Check both elbow ends against their mating pipes
Provide the end sizes, wall thickness and connection specification at each pipe interface. Identify any welding preparation or thread requirement separately and obtain confirmation for the selected configuration. A single size choice cannot define the full end arrangement, and a general equal-end description does not replace actual dimensions. The elbow drawing should link the route angle to both mating connections rather than leaving the end details to assumption.
Request a service rating for the selected elbow
Name the material grade and any construction requirement that applies to the project, with the medium and design pressure and temperature included. An unrated class descriptor supplies no operating limit, so obtain the applicable rating for the proposed material, wall and geometry. Identify the inspection or material documentation needed for that review. The final angle-specific elbow enquiry should bring route, ends and grade together before service suitability is accepted for the part.
