A familiar shape can hide important differences in load transfer, assembly access, removal, alignment and locking. Start with the job, then confirm geometry and standard.

Manufacturing route

Geometry, quantity and material condition shape the process

Cold forming can support efficient repeat production for suitable shapes and quantities. Machining can address controlled features, lower volumes or geometries not suited to forming. Forging and secondary operations may be combined where section, strength flow or complex features require them.

The correct route is confirmed from the drawing, sample, material, tolerances, finish, inspection scope and order quantity—not from the product name alone.

Buyer questions

Questions to resolve before quotation

Is material name enough to define fastener strength?

No. Material, property or strength grade, heat treatment, hardness, manufacturing route and applicable standard work together. State the required designation or performance basis when known.

Can coating thickness affect thread fit?

Yes. A finish adds material to thread surfaces and may change fit, gauge results and assembly behavior. The required finished condition and inspection method should be defined.

Can RELIA quote from a sample without a drawing?

A sample can start identification or custom review. Critical dimensions, original versus worn geometry, material, performance, finish and acceptance requirements still need to be recorded before production release.

When should a custom fastener be considered?

Consider custom manufacture when a standard item does not meet geometry, material, tolerance, surface, performance, identification, packing or order-program requirements.
