Engineering reference
Turn technical information into a specification another team can repeat.
Standards, drawings, dimensions, tolerances and inspection records are connected. A number without its unit, reference, revision or acceptance method can create more ambiguity than clarity.
Reference route
Choose the document that controls the next decision
Controlled information
Four details prevent common drawing misunderstandings
Not every dimension needs the same tolerance or inspection effort. Focus control on interfaces, load-bearing features, sealing surfaces, threads, alignment and other features that affect function.

Measurement strategy
A tighter tolerance is not automatically a better specification
Tolerances should reflect function, manufacturing capability, measurement method and cost. Unnecessarily tight limits can add process and inspection burden without improving the assembly.
Where a catalog page omits a project-specific tolerance, the dimension still matters. It should be discussed and confirmed from the drawing, mating component, sample or performance requirement.
Inspection evidence
Match the record to the risk
Material and lot
Record the agreed material designation, source document and traceability level required.
Dimensional results
Identify measured features, method, sampling and acceptance limits.
Special requirements
Connect heat treatment, finish or other controlled operations to requested evidence.
Final acceptance
Confirm appearance, quantity, packing, labelling and documents before shipment.
Buyer questions
Questions behind a controlled specification
Which dimensions should be treated as critical?
Critical dimensions are those that directly affect fit, sealing, load transfer, alignment, motion, safety or interchangeability. They should be agreed with the assembly and inspection method in mind.
Should dimensions apply before or after coating?
The drawing or specification should state this where coating can affect fit, thread, thickness or surface condition. Inspection must use the same agreed condition.
Can RELIA help when the drawing is incomplete?
Yes. Send the current drawing, sample, mating-part details and known requirements. RELIA can identify open items for clarification, but project-specific values are confirmed with the buyer before release.
Drawing and specification review
Send the current revision and mark what is still open.
RELIA can review drawings, samples, standards, dimensions, tolerances and requested inspection records before stock matching or custom production is confirmed.
