A 90-degree pipe elbow enquiry should establish the required change in pipe direction together with the dimensions of the selected fitting. Confirm the exact nominal size and its relationship to the mating pipe before evaluating wall schedule or material requirements. Keep the drawing, material records and quotation linked to one elbow configuration.
Establish the Bend and Installation Geometry
Specify the required elbow angle and bend radius, then request centre-to-end dimensions and end geometry. Compare the drawing with the available installation space and the alignment of both pipe sections. Where the project calls for a three-quarter-inch fitting, confirm the nominal-size convention and corresponding pipe outside diameter rather than assuming an equivalence with a millimetre option. These dimensions establish whether the proposed elbow can be incorporated into the planned pipe route.
Define SCH80 Walls and the Steel Specification
State the schedule convention and obtain the actual wall thickness for the selected nominal size and exact steel grade. Include the required material designation and weld-end preparation at both connections. If seamless construction is part of the specification, request production evidence identifying the manufacturing route of the quoted item. Verify the B16.9 and Operating Design Scope
Identify the applicable B16.9 edition and the conformity evidence required for the selected elbow.
