Match the cap opening and welding edge
The cap opening, wall thickness and welding preparation need to be considered with the adjoining pipe. Send a pipe-end drawing identifying the opening, wall thickness, cap depth and welding preparation, with the required material specification alongside it. Include the applicable dimensional standard, medium and design pressure and temperature, and identify any documentation needed for project review. That package connects the cap selection to one closure requirement instead of treating every material or thickness label as a confirmed configuration. Final suitability should be assessed for the selected welding cap and the pipe end it will close.
