This ASME B16.9 A234 carbon steel elbow enquiry includes 90-degree and SCH 40/STD wording. Start with the selected size and measured wall thickness rather than assuming the two wall designations are universally interchangeable.

Accept the wall requirement at the ordered size

SCH 40 and STD wording does not create separate actual wall variants or establish measured thickness. Agree exact nominal size or outside-diameter basis, required wall and applicable dimensional drawing. The sole actual Elbow / 1/2-inch to 12-inch / Carbon Steel selection remains one range, not a list of discrete available sizes.

Define measured 90-degree angle, bend radius, center-to-end dimensions, end diameters, bores, wall thicknesses and tolerances. Repeating the range under length, height and mounting-hole diameter does not provide those measurements. Bend and Hexagon wording does not replace the full elbow drawing.

Confirm the joint ends and exact A234 material

Obtain accepted joining-end construction. A welded request needs selected preparation, compatible pipe wall, procedure and inspection; any threaded request needs its own size, form, engagement and mating-part acceptance. Do not assume a combined connection from general labels.

Agree the selected ASME B16.9 edition, applicable scope and compliance evidence. A234 alone does not establish WPB or another exact grade. Request the selected product specification, grade, heat-traceable material certificate and production inspections. A forged requirement needs actual manufacturing evidence. Reference photos cannot certify schedule, measured angle/radius, grade or body route.

Assess finish and operating conditions together

Smooth and corrosion-resistant wording does not identify coating chemistry or qualify the actual medium. Define finish/coating and exposure criteria against the intended service. Construction naming supplies enquiry context rather than fluid approval.

Low Pressure and Not Rated provide no numerical pressure-temperature envelope. Submit fluid composition, temperature, pressure and cycling alongside accepted size/wall, actual ends, complete measured geometry, material and production evidence and standard requirements. The operating assessment must cover the elbow, mating pipe and complete installed joint.
