Verify certificate scope and product traceability
Request the certificate issuer, holder, identifying details, validity and covered activities or products. Establish how the documents relate to the material, production and inspection records for the pipe offered. A certification label in a catalogue does not independently demonstrate approval of a particular grade or delivery.
Clarify any API-related claim separately from ISO 9001 wording. Do not infer an API licence, marking authorisation or a specific product standard from those names alone. Agree the traceability and inspection evidence required by the purchase specification and actual supply.
Confirm the numbered specification and dimensions
ASTM is listed generically, without a numbered specification or selected grade. Obtain the applicable edition, material condition, chemical and mechanical records and ERW weld acceptance. Ask how cold processing fits the production sequence rather than adopting a standard from another catalogue item.
Length choices are 6 m and 12 m, each with a 6–20 mm thickness entry; the outside-diameter field spans 219–1066 mm. Select the exact diameter, wall and length combination. Define the ±1% measurement basis, straightness, ovality and end requirements, and confirm actual availability.
Define the service role and delivery condition
For oil or gas, provide fluid composition, contaminants, pressure, temperature, cycles and loads. A drilling function requires its own mechanical and connection assessment. Agree tests and project acceptance for the chosen role, together with non-oiled preservation, any required protection, actual-weight invoicing and confirmation of the listed 8–14-day delivery wording.
